Our Passion
Our Journal with the Author program aims to educate underage children to cope with life events such as stress, anxiety, and depression and how these crises influence our youth and can hurt their lives. The creative writing curriculum is to teach and bring awareness to the youths on the importance of brain health. The program is designed for students to create original forms of descriptive writing poetry, drama, songs, and fiction. Creative writing aims to entertain and share the human experiences of love, joy, pain, and loss.Â
During the writing process, the students will learn creative writing techniques and skills including vocabulary development. The students will learn to write short stories, poetry, and journals. The students will engage in the four parts of the creative writing process: The development of characters, plots, settings, and tension.
Students are informed about the various types of CBD products and e-cigarettes and how they can affect their health. The importance of keeping these products away so that children do have access to the medication from children, the risk of unintentional poisoning, and information about marijuana. They learn about the potential harms and side effects.Â
Students learn that alcohol is the most used substance among young people in the U.S. They learn that underage drinking is dangerous. They are most likely to experience school problems, legal problems, physical problems, and increased risk of suicide and homicide. They learn that there is an association between underage drinking to adult drinking. They also learn how to avoid underage drinking.Â
We discuss with the students the dangers of prescription drugs and ways to prevent prescription drug misuse. They are educated on the dangers of recognizing an overdose and the long-term effects of the misuse of amphetamines. The youths will create their own journals or short stories that will contain critical information on alcohol, CBD, e-cigarettes, and opioids. They will learn how these substances can have a dangerous effect on their health. We keep the students engaged by incorporating them into the program’s fun activities to keep them motivated to learn.Â
